National Gallery modern Art

Our trip to the National Gallery of Modern art was great, i enjoyed the trip.We were told to look at different pieces in the collection, I looked at many and chose to look at Roy Lichtenstein the American painter, I had once watched a documentary on his work and how he created it, which was good. I did not know before that he would copy his images from old comic books often giving them a new pop art look, He used stencils to create his works and used paint, he successfully did use his style in all his later painting's and is very popular. The painting i saw of his were the In The Car 1963 which was the one which I knew, What i like about this painting was his used of detail and how the colors stand out. This painting doesn't have his famous dots which are often found in many of his paintings. I like how he has used bolder colors than would be naturally there. This was my favorite one done by him. All his work is very similar but i felt this one stood out from his others. This painting was the larger of two he had one of this version and I was happy i got to see it. What i did not like about his painting; I felt that his work was not the most creative, they were very simple and i did not feel very inspired.I did like some of his work with mirrors in the exhibition.

Here are some photographs I took:
